this article hit me so hard, as it came out a few weeks before i was to go in and have my lap band removed, due to years of complications and illness.

BOTH SIDES of WLS need to be discussed on the internet—the good AND the bad. the band worked for me for the first year, but after that? nothing but illness and problems.

I am now happily back on the other side of the fence, band free, no revision. I like who I am, regardless of my size. I am now making better food choices, and i’m exercising for 1-2 hours per day. I would never ever discourage anybody from having surgery, because it is your choice. however, I will say that it’s not all its cracked up to be, especially the band.
